MBM is pleased to announce the internal appointment of Helga Maynier as Director and National Head of Quantity Surveying and Richard Smith as Director.
Helga Maynier has over 27 years’ experience in the construction industry in Australia and South Africa. She has worked on significant projects in Sydney such as 50 Martin Place, 1 Martin Place and Australian Rugby House, national rollouts for the Westpac Group, the PricewaterhouseCoopers fitouts over various states and multiple University projects for UTS, UNSW, University of Sydney, Macquarie University and many more.
Helga holds a Bachelor degree in Quantity Surveying from the University of Pretoria, South Africa and is a Corporate Member of & Assessor for the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS), a Corporate Member of the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (MAIQS) and Member of the National Association for Women in Construction (NAWIC).

Richard Smith has over 20 years of experience in the property and construction industries in both the UK and Australia. His experience ranges from leading teams on the 1 Paramatta Square project, the Northpoint Towers Redevelopment in North Sydney, the NBN roll-out, Taronga Zoo's major projects, the HNSW stimulus, and he is currently involved in the state significant Waterloo project for Urbangrowth NSW.
His work in the not for profit sector is extensive and ongoing and his extremely strong commercial skills and industry insight means he is able to further MBM’s position as the most contemporary quantity surveyor. Richard is a keen supporter of technology and his pursuit of new solutions to age old problems make him one of our industries future leaders.
Richard commented, “I am as excited right now as I was when I started quantity Surveying in England 20 years ago. MBM is a brilliant example of how, I believe, contemporary construction companies should operate. The all-inclusive and positive culture, the unconditional dedication to quality and the sheer determination to drive the industry forward are all admirable traits and qualities as appropriate to life in general as they are to our industry."
