Victoria’s $670 million Ravenhall Prison Project has been named as Australia’s best infrastructure project at the National Infrastructure Awards 2018 in Melbourne.

MBM was engaged as the technical facilities management advisor and deliverables under the engagement included:

  • Preparation of relevant elements of the operational cost public sector comparator.
  • Preparation of relevant elements of the procurement documentation.
  • Evaluation of asset maintenance, FM and Lifecycle costs and proposals submitted by bidders. and
  • Provision of ongoing support during the construction and operational phases.

The Project is the first Victorian PPP to be procured under the new Victorian PPP guidelines and incorporated a high risk/ high-value peer review and scope ladder development. Acknowledging that available prisoner places and use of prisoner labour were key project objectives, MBM worked closely with the operations team, design team, and commercial advisers to develop a regime that ensures standards are maintained without placing undue risk with the Project Co.

David Pearson, CEO said, “The Ravenhall Prison Project is an excellent example of a successful PPP and MBM is so proud and privileged to be part of this successful project.  Congratulations to our advisory team, the wider project advisory team, Project Co and Department of Justice for delivering a best in class project."

MBM is a market leader in the provision of professional services to the correctional sector and is currently providing construction cost management and advisory services on a number of correctional centre/prison projects across Australia.
