The WTP Treatment Capacity Increase Project is the second stage in a 3 stage programme of works being undertaken at the Western Treatment Plant (WTP) in Werribee.

The WTP was effectively at capacity and therefore needed to be augmented to manage forecast influent flow and load growth and ensure that effluent discharged to Port Phillip Bay continued to comply with Melbourne Water’s Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPAV) licence requirements. This project comprises the construction of a new 140ML/d nitrogen reduction plant and is due for completion by December 2018.The procurement strategy comprised a two phase process, the first of which involved the production of Functional Design Reports from three Shortlisted Proponents together with a P95 price. Phase 1 ended in May 2016.

MBM has formed a cost estimating team with CMP, an engineering consultancy focused on servicing the water industry, to provide detailed cost estimates combined with robust engineering solutions/systems and undertake cost estimates from a top down and bottom up approach. The MBM/CMP team is currently on Barwon Water, City West Water and Melbourne Water techn ical services panels.
