Due to the continued growth of our Sydney office, we are currently seeking a Building Services Engineer to join our Building Consultancy Team.

MBM is a national independent Australian-owned property consultancy that offers a diverse range of services, including Quantity Surveying, Building Consultancy, Tax & Asset Services, PPP Advisory, Infrastructure, Facilities Management Advisory, and Expert Witness services.

We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Building Services Engineer to work within the Building Consultancy Division based within our Sydney CBD Office. You will be responsible for assisting MBM’s new Building Services Engineering service line.

The Building Services Engineering service line will focus on providing MBM clients with advice on the condition and maintenance of their building services and will augment the work of the company’s current team of building consultants.

The role will also encompass working with the QS division and supporting the Tax Depreciation and Asset Management Advisory groups on the preparation of programmed maintenance plans, life cycle replacement plans, asset management plans and the procurement of FM contracts

 

Key Responsibilities:

Daily Engineering Consultancy & Project Management:

  • Manage engagements ranging from $1,500 to $500,000+.
  • Conduct condition assessments, forecast works, and cost estimates.
  • Perform technical due diligence and defect including under the SBBIS.
  • Capture and report asset data.
  • Conduct make-good assessments.

Tendering & Negotiation:

  • Prepare consultancy services engineering bids for stand-alone and integrated works.
  • Manage sub-contractor reporting, QA, invoicing, and financial tracking.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain relationships with clients across sectors including commercial office, industrial, aged care, health, hospitality, and justice.

Collaborative Engagements:

  • Develop in-house relationships and collaborate with MBM’s Advisory, Tax, and QS Departments.
  • Participate in NSW, interstate, national, and international travel as required.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in building services and/or FM.
  • Proficiency with international standards such as ISO55000 or ISO41000.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Business, Building, Asset Management, or Facilities Management.
  • Accreditation with industry bodies such as FMA, IFMA, IAM, IPWEA, RICS, or AIQS.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet project deadlines and budgets.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
