Project Background and Scope

The IRT Woonona Development is a purpose-built residential aged care facility designed to meet the growing demand for high-quality senior living in the Illawarra region. The development aims to provide a safe, comfortable, and modern environment that supports the well-being and independence of its residents. The project includes the construction of new residential care buildings, associated communal and support facilities, landscaped outdoor areas, and essential infrastructure upgrades.

The scope of works covered multiple stages of the project lifecycle, from early design to completion. It included:

  • Preparation of Development Application (DA) documentation
  • Detailed design and documentation coordination
  • Management of the tender process
  • Construction delivery and cost monitoring

Project Challenges

The IRT Woonona Development faced several common challenges typical of aged care projects, including:

  • Managing tight budget constraints while maintaining high-quality design and compliance with aged care standards
  • Balancing functional requirements with resident comfort and accessibility
  • Navigating design changes and scope adjustments throughout the design and construction phases
  • Aligning the project timeline with funding and operational requirements
