Services Provided

MBM’s scope of services encompassed a comprehensive review of existing NGA data and information, the planning and facilitation of stakeholder workshops, and the development of an Asset Management Improvement Plan (AMIP). Following endorsement by the NGA executive, MBM also managed the implementation of the improvement plan to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and stakeholder expectations.

Project Background and Scope

MBM was engaged by the National Gallery of Australia (NGA) to support the development and delivery of a comprehensive Asset Management Improvement Plan (AMIP), aimed at enhancing the organisation’s capability to manage its diverse portfolio of buildings, infrastructure, and cultural assets. The AMIP was structured as a two-stage process, beginning with a detailed assessment of existing asset data, systems, and practices, followed by the design and implementation of targeted improvements. This approach culminated in the preparation of eight distinct project scopes, each addressing a critical aspect of asset management, from governance and lifecycle planning to data integrity and operational efficiency.

Project Challenges

Working with the diverse expectations of key stakeholders, including curators, facilities managers, finance teams, and executive leadership, presented some challenges, as each stakeholder brings distinct priorities and perspectives. Balancing these varied interests required a nuanced approach to communication, decision making and engagement.

MBM Solutions

The MBM team undertook a carefully balanced approach to engagement and decision-making, ensuring that strategic objectives were met without compromising operational integrity or stakeholder confidence.
