Hume Housing leads the charge in Australia’s social and affordable housing sector, with the community housing provider (CHP) delivering on their mission to resolve housing unaffordability for Australians in the greatest need. The national CHP is partnering with Housing Australia, Homes NSW, and the City of Parramatta on the construction of 66 new homes across three sites in Parramatta, which will become home to over 100 people.

The project kicked off in February 2025, with the apartments set to deliver essential support and safe accommodation to vulnerable women and children recovering from domestic violence, older women at risk of homelessness, and essential frontline workers. Strategically located near Western Sydney University’s Parramatta campus, the apartments offer residents a welcoming, sustainable environment that will cement stable living conditions close to public amenities. The modern, affordable apartments feature energy-efficient appliances, landscaped communal gardens, and accessible layouts for people with diverse needs.

MBM has long championed social and affordable housing developments across Australia for vulnerable members of the community and leads the industry in cost and asset expertise in the sector. Associate Director Sabrina Tapson spearheads MBM’s team and services, including expert construction reports, variation assessments, detailed cost plans, and comprehensive benchmarking analysis for the three sites. Sabrina’s precise cost management, transparent reporting, and timely project delivery plays a key role to support Hume Housing’s goal of real community impact.

The transformative project is only made possible through the collaboration of government, non-profit organisations, and industry leaders working towards a shared vision. As the development progresses, Hume Housing will work closely with Women’s Community Shelters, the Immigrant Women’s Speakout Association of NSW, and Homes NSW to secure homes for women and children in need.

Associate Director Sabrina Tapson shares her excitement about the project’s purpose and progression, stating, “We are proud to partner with Hume Housing to build high-quality homes that provide safety, comfort, and opportunity for families in Parramatta. Together, we are creating real change and a stronger, more resilient community for generations. This is our second development with Hume Housing demonstrating our strong relationship with the community housing provider, and we’re grateful to support the development’s success.”

The social and affordable housing project will reach completion by the end of 2026, and the timing will see people move into their new homes before Christmas.
