As part of the NSW Government’s commitment to support communities across the state, School Infrastructure New South Wales (SINSW) developed a new multi-purpose hall at Canterbury Boys High School. The hall, designed for future-focused learning, caters to the growing number of students and acts as a central hub for school activities. As well as offering a safe and secure learning environment for students, the school community will also have access to the facility’s diverse features.
SINSW appointed MBM to deliver cost management services across phases 0-9 of the hall’s redevelopment throughout the planning, design, delivery and commissioning stages. The MBM team guided cost management on the development from 2021 and was led by Founding Director David Madden, Director Selma Trepanic, Executive Quantity Surveyor Nahee Kang, and Senior Quantity Surveyor Emily Wang. The new hall is a transformation of Canterbury Boys High School’s heritage gymnasium and enhances educational capabilities through the inclusion of a stage, indoor sports court, equipment storage facility, and external access ramps.
The full scope of services provided by MBM’s Sydney team included:
- Cost planning and estimations including full life cycle costs
- Variation assessments
- Regular onsite meetings with stakeholders
- Risk management analysis
- Oversight of documentation and design plans
Founding Director David Madden spearheaded MBM’s cost management services. He commented “The MBM team were delighted to partner with School Infrastructure NSW once again to deliver exceptional facilities for the furtherment of education“.
The MBM Sydney-based team worked across the project for over three years, and the new hall was unveiled in February 2024.
