Project Background and Scope

The project involves the significant upgrade and expansion of an existing high school campus in Condell Park to support increased enrolment and deliver a contemporary educational environment. The upgraded facility is designed to accommodate up to 2,000 students and aims to foster both student engagement and broader community use.
The scope includes the refurbishment of existing core facilities and the addition of 58 new General Learning Spaces (GLSs), bringing the total to 102 teaching spaces. Upgrades will also include administration areas, libraries, student and staff amenities, external works, and communal learning areas.

Project Challenges

  • Budget Allocation at Early Stage: Establishing a realistic budget and cashflow forecast during project initiation to guide design and planning decisions.
  • Design to Cost Constraints: Aligning ambitious educational goals with budget limitations while ensuring long-term value.
  • Large Scale Expansion in Occupied Site: Managing cost and staging implications for significant refurbishment and new build on an operational school site.
  • Balancing Innovation and Cost Efficiency: Delivering a modern educational space that also supports community use, within financial parameters.
