Services Provided

MBM was engaged by Seqwater to provide strategic advisory and technical support in the review and enhancement of its facilities management (FM) framework. This engagement encompassed a comprehensive assessment of existing FM practices, systems, and service delivery models across Seqwater’s asset portfolio. Leveraging MBM’s expertise in asset lifecycle planning and cost management, the team collaborated closely with Seqwater stakeholders to develop a tailored FM Policy, Strategy, and Implementation Plan that aligns with international best practice standards, specifically ISO 55001 (Asset Management) and ISO 41001 (Facility Management).
MBM has been providing FM consulting advice to Seqwater for over five years. In addition to the above, the scope of advice has included the provision of an FM Strategy, FM Policy, Business Case for Outsourcing FM and the Procurement of FM Services.

Project Background and Scope

MBM was engaged by Seqwater to provide support in reviewing facilities management and drafting an FM policy, strategy and plan aligned to ISO 55001 and 41001. The project’s aim was to evaluate the maturity level of Seqwater’s FM operations practices focussed on non-network assets, understand the current state of assets, infrastructure and facilities at Seqwater, identify gaps based on current industry best practices and provide recommendations for improvement, including an improvement plan that documented the key steps, risks and ease of implementation to increase the asset and FM maturity profile of the authority to realise value from the asset and infrastructure base.

Project Challenges

Advising on facilities management strategy within a complex infrastructure environment like Seqwater’s presents some challenges. This includes achieving strategic and operational alignment, particularly when FM practices are fragmented across departments or sites.

MBM Solutions

MBM’s approach integrated risk-based planning, performance benchmarking, and stakeholder engagement to ensure the FM strategy was both practical and future-focused, enabling Seqwater to optimise value across its infrastructure assets. The outcome was a robust, scalable framework designed to improve operational efficiency, ensure regulatory compliance, and support long-term asset sustainability.
