The Australian government will enliven Hervey Bay and Bundaberg as part of the Hinkler Regional Deal – its regional economic development strategy. A partnership between the Australian Government, Fraser Coast Regional Council and Bundaberg Regional Council, the deal seeks to build on the area’s strengths to provide economic growth, long-term employment, and lifestyle opportunities for residents in the region.
The next phase of the implementation plan is underway with the Fraser Coast Regional Council commencing a four-stage redevelopment of the Hervey Bay City Centre Redevelopment (CCR). MBM is leading cost management across the program and partnering with the Council on the City Centre Redevelopment (CCR). The development’s scope includes ‘The Hervey Bay Community Hub’. The community will benefit from traffic management upgrades, and a new Council Library which will replace the existing library facility.
MBM will deliver quantity surveying, cost planning, and estimating for the duration of the project. Consulting across every stage, MBM is proud to support economic growth and contribute to a safer and securer Hervey Bay town centre. The team has worked closely with the client since being appointed, whose goal is to create a more resilient region to demographic, economic, and environmental changes.
The full scope of services being provided by MBM’s national team includes:
- Cost Planning and Estimating
- Feasibility Studies
- Concept, Schematic and Detailed Design Consults
- Tender Evaluation
- Construction Services
MBM Brisbane-based Associate Director Reiss Draper and Executive Quantity Surveyor Andre Garcia are leading the team’s cost management services. Reiss notes “We are thrilled to be a part of the revitalisation plans to build a world-class city centre and civic hub which promises a better lifestyle for the residents of Hervey Bay under the stewardship of the Australian Government and the Fraser Coast Regional Council.”
Construction on the Hervey Bay City Centre development of Hervey Bay commenced at the start of 2024. The project is expected to complete by mid-2026.
