Global toll road company, Transurban, has undertaken a landmark workplace transformation of its Sydney headquarters. In collaboration with Lucy Symington, Director of LCS Advisory, MBM supported Transurban’s contemporary fitout through the delivery of quantity surveying services. from the agreement for lease phase to the post construction phase.

Spread across three levels, Transurban’s new office sits within the Poly Centre and provides staff members with a contemporary environment that incorporates unique design elements. The architectural feats designed by Bates Smarts highlight shared working spaces that inspire innovation and foster better employee wellbeing in breakout spaces.

The scope of services provided by the team include:

  • Assess base building credits based on the cold shell scope and other base building reduction scopes to ensure ultimate flexibility for the fitout
  • Estimate preliminary base building modification scopes to form part of the Agreement for Lease (AFL) negotiation
  • Tender management formed by a detailed bill of quantities
  • Cost plans across concept design to design development phases
  • Review, negotiation, assessment and recommendation of all variations
  • Quantified project specific risk register and assess the financial implications of the identified risks
  • Monthly financial reporting information as required by Transurban with a focus of reconciling any outstanding costs and payments

Leading MBM’s team was Founding Director David Madden and Director Autumn Lu who oversaw the project with the assistance of Executive Quantity Surveyor Georgia Brady alongside Senior Quantity Surveyors Coco Kuang and Joanne Zhou. The team collaborated with Bates Smart, LCS, and MPA to achieve the fitout for Transurban to deliver a space that incorporates a breadth of design elements with the goal of empowering staff within their workspace.

Autumn noted “The project was a great achievement for Transurban as they continue to expand their services across Australia. The fitout was one of the highlights of my completed projects from 2023, and working with all external providers across three years to achieve our client’s goal was ensured a unique workspace for their staff. This project was a milestone for our team and will both benefit staff members and provide room for Transurban’s future growth.

Transurban’s Sydney headquarters fitout was finalised in mid-2023.
