MBM’s Victorian Health Experts on Frankston Hospital Modernisation and Expansion

MBM’s Victorian health experts continue to support Melbourne’s major health infrastructure developments and the Victorian Health Building Authority (VHBA) with the team’s engagement on the Frankston Hospital redevelopment and expansion. Located in Melbourne’s south-east, the modernisation of Frankston Hospital will address evolving health service needs amidst population growth in the Mornington Peninsula region. The major project includes the development of a 12-storey tower that will house a diversity of clinical services alongside 130 additional beds, new spaces for mental health and oncology services, and 15 new operating theatres.

Director Lee Williams and Associate Tony Del Nevo led a cross-functional team with input from MBM’s Victorian quantity surveying and advisory specialists. Executive Quantity Surveyor Suba Fernando, Senior Quantity Surveyor Tamara Perera, and Senior Project Advisor Shiva Ramanikanthan provided a range of services during the market engagement, bid evaluation, and construction phases. The development is being delivered as a PPP project by the Exemplar Health consortium with Lendlease as the design and construct contractor, and Honeywell and Compass Group as facilities services providers

The redevelopment will increase Frankston Hospital’s capacity to assist 35,000 more patients each year, and will deliver supplementary women’s and children’s services. The new tower will include sustainable designs through energy-saving technologies to ensure carbon neutral practices.

Lee Williams is delighted to have worked closely with Tony Del Nevo on the project and highlights the efforts of the team. “The Mornington Peninsula region relies heavily on Frankston Hospital’s health services to support the expanding communities central to the region. Our team was grateful for the opportunity to contribute to healthcare enhancements through a broad scope of services, and to support the development of key infrastructure essential to the region.”

The project is in the construction phase with main works expected to be completed in 2025.
