With close to 40 years of experience, Founding Director David Madden anchors the creation of client value in stakeholder collaboration throughout entire project lifecycles.

David established MBM in 2002 following 15 years of engagement in the construction industry. Delivering technical expertise across industries, David stewards MBM’s education, health, workplace, residential, retail, industrial, and mixed-use sector developments. His experience providing expert witness guidance to state judiciary bodies, including the Supreme Courts of New South Wales and Victoria alongside the NCAT District Court, has shaped his reputation as an esteemed consultant.

David graduated with honours in a Bachelor of Applied Science in Quantity Surveying from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS). His influential leadership extends to key industry bodies as demonstrated by his membership with the Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors and past role as Vice President of the AIQS NSW Chapter Council. David’s commitment to industry contributions extends from the delivery of thought leadership at events to preparation of the AIQS Guide for Expert Witness services. His ancillary attitude underscores the importance of knowledge sharing – whether through seminars, workshops, or one-on-one guidance – and highlights his investment in the growth of the quantity surveying industry.

David leads several teams in MBM’s Sydney office in addition to broadly guiding our national presence. He brings a structured methodology to his work and is well versed in navigating complex scenarios. He approaches each project with passion and personability by assisting clients from the inception stage through to tendering, pre and post contract documentation, and administration. He stands for equitable opportunities and strives to create an inclusive work environment through celebrations of diverse cultures and the promotion of female leadership.
