Project Background and Scope

The University of Notre Dame Australia is expanding its Broadway campus with the relocation of its Nursing and Midwifery programs to a fully refurbished building at 140 Myrtle Street, Chippendale. Opening in 2026, the facility will provide advanced simulation laboratories replicating real-life clinical settings, modern tutorial rooms, breakout areas, and self-serve facilities on each level. Designed to enhance student experience, the building will also feature end-of-trip facilities and close connections to the wider Broadway campus and transport hubs. This strategic move consolidates Nursing and Midwifery into a dedicated home while allowing expansion of the School of Medicine at Darlinghurst, reinforcing the University’s commitment to health and education.

Project Challenges

The project requires the refurbishment of an existing commercial building into a specialised education facility with advanced clinical simulation laboratories and modern learning spaces. Managing complex services integration, compliance with university standards, and adapting the building for student-focused use present key challenges.

MBM Solutions

MBM supports the project with detailed cost planning, risk analysis, and value engineering to optimise outcomes within budget. Through close collaboration with the University and consultant team, MBM ensures design intent is achieved while addressing technical, compliance and financial requirements, delivering a high-quality facility for future students.
