To cater to major growth in multiple areas across Victoria, the Victorian Government has invested in over $800 million to commit to community hospitals to provide everyday health services within these areas. As local public hospitals, the community hospitals will provide a range of everyday health services for people who are not critically unwell, allowing better access to many important everyday health services closer to home which will be tailored for each demographic, with extended hours to provide day and after-hours services.
The Victorian Government has committed $675 million to build 10 community hospitals close to major growth areas across Victoria, and will be delivered through a combination of upgrades and expansions to existing facilities, as well as new builds located in:
- Cranbourne
- Craigieburn
- Phillip Island
- Sunbury
- Inner South of Melbourne
- Mernda
- Pakenham
- Point Cook
- Torquay
- Eltham
