Project Background and Scope

The master plan investigated options to align the current facilities with the UNSW 2025 strategy.
The Clancy options investigated enhancement of the ceremonial experiences and functional spaces of Clancy and the surrounding spaces to maximise the development potential to meet the demands of the growth strategy. This enhancement will provide flexible activity and innovation spaces to foster creativity and public engagement opportunities and will deliver social spaces offering a variety of engagement opportunities for UNSW community and Alumni.
Linked to Clancy was the option to upgrade Mathews Pavilion to extend the ceremonial experience and optimise retail, circulation and functional spaces.
The Gate 9 entry experience options address the arrival of the light rail which is expected to increase pedestrian traffic in and out of the campus at Gate 9. Upgrading of these areas will improve the campus entry and optimise circulation.
The Chancellery master plan investigated options to provide 288 new underground parking bays and 3 new buildings replacing the existing Chancellery building with 3 new interconnected buildings providing a new Chancellery building and 2 additional teaching and administration buildings.
