An international leader in self-storage solutions, Australia’s Storage King boasts over  200 locations with a growing footprint. Together with property investment specialists, Abacus Group, MBM delivered a bespoke, four-level Storage King facility on Main South Head Road in Darlington, Adelaide.

Led by General Manager of MBM’s South Australian presence, Rob Williamson, the firm’s cost management services were instrumental to the feasibility and completion of the 10,000m² facility. Rob and industrial expert, Director Helga Maynier, delivered cost planning and estimating services, conducted tender price reviews and interviews, assessed progress claims with recommendations, in addition to variations.

The Darlington facility contains more than 640 units built to provide end-to-end residential and business storage solutions for clients across 13 surrounding suburbs. The bespoke space embeds sustainability throughout the building design, and spans from the rooftop solar energy system to an innovative stormwater management network, and eco-friendly construction materials. Through MBM’s expert cost guidance, the facility achieved Storage King’s goal to balance functionality, sustainability, and customer-focused design.

Rob Williamson was thrilled to work with Abacus Group and Storage King on its latest development in Adelaide. He shared,

“The South Australian team was excited to collaborate with Abacus Group on another successful Storage King development. Through our long commercial history with both organisations and work on over 39 self-storage facilities across Australia, the MBM team brought a sharp insight into the client’s needs and helped deliver a standout build that maximises operational efficiency. We thank Abacus Group and Storage King for their ongoing trust in our cost and asset expertise.”

The Darlington space opened in July 2025, and now provides convenient, high-quality storage solutions in one of South Australia’s busiest metropolitan areas.
