MBM’s Ali Najm features in the Sydney Morning Herald, discussing his career as Quantity Surveyor

MBM Quantity Surveyor Ali Najm was recently published in the Sydney Morning Herald, discussing some of the common misconceptions

around the quantity surveying profession, and his journey from Cadet to Quantity Surveyor at MBM.

Ali notes that after joining MBM, he quickly discovered the integral role professionals like him play in the property and construction sector.

“A quantity surveyor is involved in providing expert cost advice throughout all stages of the construction lifecycle, from providing a client

with a budget for an initial project idea – to advising what sofa we can afford in the finished lobby,” Ali says.

Ali’s role at MBM has seen him work across multiple sectors, from affordable housing, aged care and childcare, through to tourist

destinations and aeroplane hangars. With no two days the same, he explains that working at MBM has provided him with the opportunity

to work on construction sites with project teams, as well as the boardrooms of global clients, advising on complex cost issues.

Ali credits his passion for quantity surveying and the industry as a whole to the strong leaders within MBM and the exciting projects he touches each day.

“I’m in this career for the long haul. I see myself continuing to champion and master the ins and outs of cost management in the essential and high

demand sectors that MBM works in”.
