An iconic venue with more than 50 years of history, the Redcliffe Peninsula Harness Racing and Sports Club will see over $6m worth of lighting upgrades to enhance the venue’s safety and broadcast capabilities. As experts in hospitality and tourism, MBM’s Brisbane team has been engaged by Racing Queensland to provide extensive cost management services on the club’s milestone enhancements.
The venue hosts over 40% of the state’s annual harness race meetings and is ideally situated on the Redcliffe Peninsula. The 11-month project will transform the venue’s lighting, elevate guest experiences, and support high-quality broadcasting for early morning track work and night racing.
Leading MBM’s contributions are Associate Director Reiss Draper and Senior Quantity Surveyor Mareli Scholtz. The Brisbane team’s guidance and contributions will support the success of the project and Racing Queensland’s objective to provide safer environments for staff, horses, and guests.
The team’s engagement will extend throughout the construction phase. The scope of MBM’s services include progress inspections on site, issue of the recommendation, and variation assessments.
Reiss expressed his enthusiasm on the team’s involvement in the project for Racing Queensland and stated, “The team is excited to support Racing Queensland on the milestone upgrades for the historic club. Our focus is on ensuring the project’s smooth completion through our quantity surveying, tax, and asset guidance. The lighting upgrade will be a great improvement towards our client’s strategic goals, and one that positively impacts stakeholders across both the local community and national racing industry.”
Construction on the Redcliffe Peninsula Harness Racing and Sports Club lighting upgrades commenced in May 2024 with the project’s expected completion in early 2025.
