Qantas recently announced plans to invest over $100 million to upgrade its lounge network in Australia and overseas, significantly enhancing the travel experience for customers at several international locations. As part of the investment, Adelaide Airport will receive its third lounge, complimenting the existing Qantas Club Lounge and Adelaide Chairman’s Lounge. The redevelopment of Qantas’s Adelaide lounge precinct will see seating for an additional 190 travelers in what will become a hub showcasing the best of South Australia’s local food and wine. Guests to the new lounge can also expect luxuries including a dedicated barista station, shower suites, a family zone, and bar.
Continuing our existing relationship with Qantas, MBM were appointed to provide quantity surveying services to support the construction and refurbishment of the entire Qantas Adelaide Lounge precinct. As part of the scope, MBM will provide cost plans, pre-tender estimates, tender assessment and recommendations, variation assessments, and review of progress claims. Throughout the development, our team will work closely with Qantas and the project team to ensure budget confidence and positive outcomes for all stakeholders during and at completion.
Discussing MBM’s involvement with the project, Associate Nigel Ho, noted the team’s excitement to be working with Qantas again on their iconic lounges.
“MBM is proud of our long-standing relationship with Qantas and the opportunity to join them on this exciting project”, he said.
“In a hospitality industry that is rapidly returning to pre-COVID levels, combined with the complication of unpredictable construction costs and project shifts, we are pleased to bring our extensive hospitality experience to the project team and ensure a positive transformation for Adelaide Airport”, Nigel added.
The fully upgraded Qantas Club is scheduled to open in 2025. The new business lounge at Adelaide Domestic Airport will open in stages, followed by a full upgrade to the Chairman’s Lounge.
